Welcome to The Gospel According to Mum

with Tanya Reason

This is the show where we discuss the transformational work done in us by Jesus Christ as we live out motherhood and discipleship with Him. Each of our guests is an everyday Christian mum with decades of experience walking, running, skipping, jumping and tumbling with the Lord. The show shares their real-life stories for the encouragement of all those mums who don’t know what their Christianity looks like anymore in the muddle of motherhood. These are the real-life stories of the goodness, faithfulness and enduring love of our great God, who meets us however we are, wherever we are, all the time.

In part 1 of this episode, Sharon shares how the start of her motherhood journey with the Lord tested her own faith and perspectives through infertility and a long wait for the child she so desperately wanted. What followed were 5 children in 6 years and another test, this time of her own will to live. Through complications caused by a routine surgery, Sharon fought to hold onto the abundant life given to her and meet the challenges her recovery then presented to her young family.

In Part 1 of this episode Helen describes her early years as a mother and how learning to cope with her first child on the autism spectrum and with undiagnosed gastric reflux and anxiety conditions affected the way she lived out her faith. Emerging from an era when talking about feelings was not an option, Helen struggled to find her way without revealing her weaknesses, even to God. In spite of this, God came to Helen, where she was, battling in her own strength and spoke a word of faith that she carries to this day.
